"In the News": Summary for Thursday, January 22, 2015:

 "Growing Pains"

Hi,

Well, I guess that I post too frequently for some on my "In the News" Facebook page.  I have lost four followers since yesterday morning, and one wrote to tell me why.

If you feel as if you are being spammed with posts, but still would like to read them at your leisure, the easiest thing to do is to turn off your notifications.  You could also "unfollow" me, but please don't "unlike" me, unless you really don't enjoy the page.

I know that I have changed the direction of this news project since I began three weeks ago tomorrow.  This is still an experiment, and I am going with where it is leading me.  I don't believe that we should be spoon-fed the news, and if I see something, especially about Oregon, I am going to continue posting on this one-stop-shop.

Thank you for all of thumbs up and kind comments, I appreciate you, and I work for praise.  ~ Kathy M.

Thank you so much to Teri Myers for sharing her hot-off-the press news report about yesterday's "5 for 5" meeting at the Grange Hall in La Pine:

Here is the stuff that I heard on the scanner yesterday.  The most recent posts are first (that way I didn't have to retype everything).  I am sure that there was a lot more that happened after I turned it off.

2:59 p.m. - Maston Trailhead, complaint called in. A woman is waiting for her husband now, the police said.

6:25 p.m. - Somebody driving a 90's white Ford Explorer seems full of road rage and the cops have been notified. (Not exactly sure where this is.)

6:10 p.m. - La Pine - It sounds like a woman has died at home, off of Burgess. That is so sad. Sending out prayers for her family and friends.

5:06 - p.m. - La Pine - Heath Drive and Huntington - A highly intoxicated couple; the man called the cops because he is worried about the woman ... If I got this one right.

4:52 p.m. - Bend - "There's a pig on the loose!" Something about at a car dealership location.

4:11 p.m. - Something is going on at Sunrise and Rainbow. An "Alpha" was requested to respond. I'm not sure what that means though.

There have been many traffic stops in the La Pine area over the past hour.

2:59 p.m. - Maston Trailhead, complaint called in. A woman is waiting for her husband now, the police said.

2:49 p.m. - La Pine - There is an unconscious subject at the Highlander Motel. An elderly woman was found sitting in her chair.

11:30 a.m to 11:54 a.m. - The cops have been chasing a red Chevy PU on HWY 97 for a while now.

11:52 a.m. - EMS has been dispatched to the La Pine Community Health Center for somebody having a heart problem.

11:34 a.m. - La Pine - somebody on Elderberry Ln. fell and called for help.

11:13 a.m. - Bend - A white Audi is blocking the driveway entrance to Planned Parenthood and there are quite a few protesters out today.  Today is the Roe vs Wade anniversary.

To sum up the things that I have heard this morning, there was a reckless driving white sedan passing people at a high rate of speed beginning at the High Desert Museum going towards Bend (9:40). There was another call regarding the same type of behavior a few minutes later at Cooley Rd., but this car was going southbound so I don't know if it was the same one.
