"In the News" - Summary for Sunday, January 11th:

The Oregon Ducks and Ohio State Buckeyes play today in Arlington, Texas to determine who will be the College Football National Champions.  I am a bit biased, of course but am pretty sure that the Ducks will win.  Make sure to watch it at 5:30 p.m. on ESPN.  GO DUCKS!!!

 Day of The Ducks!

One of my friends from Eugene, Ray Erdmann, will be attending today's game.  He gave me permission to share the pictures that he takes with you guys.  These are the ones that he took yesterday:

These Duck fans have quite a fancy truck!  That was a long drive.

Ray had his picture taken with one of his favorite players,  Kenny Wheaton.

Later last night, there was even a performance by Sting.

Have fun, everybody!

Law enforcement was pretty busy yesterday.  Here are my notes from the stuff that I heard on the scanner for Sunday, Jan. 11th:

    La Pine:

1:25 p.m. - I missed the location, but some guy wearing cammo pants just pulled them down and took a picture of himself while he was inside a local laundromat.

3:50 p.m. - La Pine - The cops were called, again, to deal with a repeat offender in the Highlander R.V. Park.  I don't know what that guy does, but somebody calls on him nearly everyday.

4:13 p.m. - La Pine - It sounded like there was a car accident near the trailer park on Huntington by Shop Smart.

4:15 p.m. - La Pine (I think) - a 52-year-old male fell when he was at home alone and couldn't get back up.  Medics were called.

5:18 p.m. - The cops were going after a vehicle beginning at HWY MP 151 near Lava Butte.

6:36 p.m. - La Pine - Police were at The Highlander, in the office, trying to sort some things out.

7:00 p.m. - La Pine - Police were called to a home on Golden Astor.

7:50 p.m. - The HWY was becoming very slick at Lava Butte.

    Outside of La Pine:

4:45 p.m. - Bend - Police were contacted about a possible suicidal subject headed toward a home off of Erickson and Neff Rd.  Rumor had it that he was going to try and get shot at.  Several units were gathered to block off the area, and did surveillance until he arrived at the home.  They had him on the phone and he hung up a couple of times, but eventually things got resolved.

5:36 p.m. - Sisters - A drunk driver was reported on the Old Bend-Redmond HWY.  The vehicle was swerving, going 15 mph and then speeding up again.

6:14 p.m. - Bend - Somebody has been threatened by somebody else, with a steak knife.

9:35 p.m. - Bend - Police responded to Lava Lanes Bowling Alley, where a glass beer bottle was thrown at one of the staff.  Two witnesses met the cops outside to fill them in on the goin's ons.  Initial reports said that there were two females and three males involved in the altercation.

10:16 p.m. - Bend - Police were called to the McDonalds in Walmart for a domestic violence call.

Then I went to bed, and today, Monday, my scanner is all statically again.  I guess that I wear it out.  I might need a new one.
